When the word community comes into our mind, we associate it with some kind of group, it may be religious or social. But when the word 5 AM community comes into our mind, it seems little strange. But why do we feel that it is so strange? Or may be it is we, ourselves, who have made this word “5 AM” a hot discussion topic in the world. There have been numerous discussions, lectures and videos being made and watched regarding “Time Management” since a long time and especially in the last few years.

The main reason for this is the complaint or excuse which people always make, “We have so much work and we do not have enough time!” A lot of research and study has been made over this, like using task management tools or working based on priorities and doing work which has got maximum importance and priority first, then doing other work. There are wonderful books written about this topic like “Seven Secrets of Highly Successful People” by Stephen Covey where he explains beautifully how we should plan our work and then we should pick work which will have the greatest impact on our life. “Eat That Frog” is another very good book written by Brian Tracy.

“Wake up early every day so that while others are still dreaming, you can make your dreams come true.” ? Hal Elrod

However, though these books explain us the basic habits to become successful and getting things done which have maximum priority first but again the problem which keeps burning is “I have so much to do and there is so little time”

This is where the competition opens up. This is between the people who wake up early and those who don’t . The 5 AM community basically means people who get up at 5 AM. It will seem difficult and maybe scary to get up at 5 AM because most of us get up between 7 to 8. But this results in beautiful and most productive time being gifted back to nature rather than accepting it gleefully from nature. The early morning hours are most sacred and you can get maximum productivity during those hours. There are holy vibrations in the environment during those sacred hours. How? The universe is filled right now with negative energy with people always complaining about various problems, nations planning for intrusion, employees upset with their managers, parents unable to handle the demands of their children and so on and so forth.

“Wake up early every day so that while others are still dreaming, you can make your dreams come true.” ? Hal Elrod

These energies will gradually wake up as all the people begin to get up from 7 to 8. But the universe is full of creative and divine energy during those victory hours. Those hours help us to get into a FLOW STATE where our concentration levels are at an absolute height. What would you prefer to do? Get up late and always do catching up on time. Or rather complete most of your tasks before your peers or competitors are enjoying their sleep. However, they will not enjoy much when they see that you have completed many tasks by the time they have got up! Checklists and time management strategies will definitely make sense if we get those extra glory hours.

You need to plan what you will do once you get up early at 5 am. If you are a writer, maybe you might get up have a cup of tea and begin to write. Your energy would be at peak level and you will very quickly get into that FLOW STATE which you will rarely find during later parts of the day. However, you may design a small group of activities before beginning any of your regular tasks. Some of the things which you can follow are doing meditation, little stretching exercise, do pranayama, writing a journal, reading a few pages of a positive book and also plan for the whole day. You can give a 30-minute slot to these activities once you get up. This will set you up for a wonderful day ahead and you would have become charged up with spiritual, physical and inspirational energies. What else one can ask for? If you have reserves of all the energies you are ready to face any challenges for the whole day. You will not play the catching up activities related to your work but on the contrary, you will proactively take your decisions.

“The early bird gets the worm” ? Unknown

I will briefly summarize some of the work I do when I get up at 5 AM. Before taking you through my tasks let me backtrack how I manage to get up at 5 AM. It was a marathon battle for me to get up at 5 AM because I was like most people who got up not before 7.30 to 8. When I heard my Exercise Teacher in school say that he woke up at 6 every day and did exercise for 1 hour, I was surprised and wondered how he would be doing it. But I kept on experimenting to get up early but most of the time I failed. But then came a time when the number of hours in the job increased for 8 to 9 and even 10. I quickly realized that with this schedule, I will not be able to do anything creative apart from doing the job at hand. All my dreams of writing a book or blog would have to be sacrificed. Then I did more research and read good books like 5 AM club by Robin Sharma and The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. These books again inspired me to wake up early and this time I did it with more determination and found better techniques from these books.

Some of the Successful People who are early risers:

9. NextDesk director Dan Lee starts his day at 3:30 a.m.

I will run you through them. I go to bed by 10 PM. I keep an alarm clock a little bit far from my bed, so once I wake up, I have to go till the clock and switch off the alarm. I do not keep an alarm in the mobile besides my pillow otherwise there is always a temptation to press the snooze button. I keep my toothbrush, clothes, and towel beside the clock so I get a feeling that I should not go back to sleep but complete those activities first. The moment when I switch off my alarm and go to wash my face is a big battle. I know that if I go to bed, I will not wake up before 7 and the game would be lost. So I pick the toothbrush beside the clock and directly go to the washroom and have a bath first. Wow! I am already ready till 5.15 am. I never believed I could ever do that. I prepare my tea after taking my bath. After that, I do meditation for 15 minutes, exercise for another 15 minutes, do little reading and writing my journal. These all activities take between 40 minutes to 1 hour depending upon the tasks I have for the whole day. This opens up the whole day for me and after I finish fight the initial battle with myself, I am ready to fight the battle of life.

These glory hours are available for all depending upon who is interested in grabbing it. Our will power muscle is greatest during that time, our spiritual and productivity levels are high and our concentration powers are at an optimum level. It can be ingrained as a habit and it will result in opening up a beautiful window that will guide you to become successful and happy.
