KRISHNA SHARNAM MAMAH ! I Bow Down at the feet of Krishna !
“Sharnam” means feet “mamah” means me. Shree Krishna Sharnam mamah means “Oh Lord Krisha, I submit myself to you.”
Speaking these holy words makes the devotee of the lord free from the burden of all his actions, all his Karmas. The biggest burden a person carries is the actions he has been performing throughout his life. At times when he ponders about his life, he gets a feeling whether the actions he has been performing are right or wrong. Are these actions, karmas ethical, are they in accordance with the laws of God.
The holy sages have advised the people that whatever actions you perform, you should devote it to the Lord, let him understand our actions, he is the ultimate judge for them.
The questions arise, if we perform some evil task, how can we submit such sinful actions to the holy Lord. But still, we have to persist. The more communication we do with God, the purer will our actions become. We would know that whatever actions we will perform has to be dedicated to the Lord, so we will have to take responsibility for whatever work we do, whether it is small or huge.
But for the words to have any sort of effect, the holy verse has to be spoken from the heart not superficially from the mouth. The person who surrenders everything to Krishna is fearless, is brave, is strong. When you surrender yourself completely to God, whom should you fear?
Shree Krishna tells Arjuna in the battlefield, Whenever dharma declines and the purpose of life is forgotten, I manifest myself on earth. I am born in every age to protect the good, to destroy evil, and to reestablish religion. I am the beginning, middle, and end of creation. All paths, Arjuna, lead to me.
We submit all our actions to the Lord and it is the God who takes the responsibility for all our acts which we have performed.
These beautiful words seem to have 2 beautiful contrasting meanings. From the devotees’ point of view, it means, “Oh Lord!! I submit all my actions to you and now I am free” From the Lord Krisha’s point of view it is as if he is saying, “Son!! Submit all your actions to me and become free.”
By repeating this holy verse again and again will bring a person so near to Lord that he will end up dancing in joy when these words pour from his heart.
